A Wagging Tail Says "I'm Feeling Better"

My little buddy Timmi was under the weather on Sunday, giving his daddy quite a scare and preventing him from enjoying Mother's Day with his family.

The next day, Timmi and I went to Malcolmson Park where he had not one but two big poopies and once again had that cute little skip as he walked in the woods. It's amazing how great a healthy bowel movement can make you feel....even for our four-legged friends.

Now if only Timmi's daddy could be as lucky...with all the "shit" he's had to contend with lately, his bowels are pretty much like the rest of his mind and body....a complete and total mess!

Another "Sexy" Parody:  "I'm Pregnant and I Know It"

It's appropriate that our friend Tammie Holditch would be the one to forward this clip to Scribbles.

Seen here with her partner Lee Ruberg, Tammie is very much "with child" and I'm sure she feels this parody clip is both amusing and easy to relate to.

Thanks for sending this to Scribbles Tammie..."I'm happy and I know it"  LMFAO!

Rob and I shared a toast...an A and W root beer toast that is...as we celebrated our 5th anniversary on May 4th.

May 14, 2012

Pam Hopkins was all smiles as her family and friends gathered to celebrate a landmark....her 50th birthday. Officially, Pam's big day is May 15th, but we al know weekends are far better for parties, especially a big event like this.

Pam posted lots of photos on her facebook page and wrote:

"A very big thank you to my children for throwing such a fantastic 50th party for me yesterday. And to all of my wonderful family & friends for making it out to celebrate with me. It makes life worthwhile knowing I have such great people around me. And I'm sorry for the time missed with the people who couldn't make it...I know you would have been there if you could".

Welcome to your 50's "Samantha", take from Uncle Arthur, it's no worse than any other day...although some days it will feel like it (perhaps like the day after your party?  LOL)

Sorry I won't be around to see how they sabotage your desk at work -I was going to pop in as a "surprise" but I'm not ready for that yet. Be sure to post lots of photos though, because sometimes Scribbles can be the next best thing to being there!

Daddy Dog Has a Nasty Fall

We introduced you to Cassidy and his "girlfriend" Alexis just last week. The lovesick labradors became parents of eight adorable puppies on May 1st, making their "owners" Michael Poirier and David Bowman "granddads".

Well it looks like momma Alexis will be doing much of the parenting for a few weeks while Cassidy heals from a nasty fall. While playing in a field with Alexis, Cassidy hit a pothole and dislocated his shoulder (OUCH!)  He is now in a splint (as seen above) and not a happy camper.  We'll keep you updated as to his progress and we're all hoping Cassidy is back on all four feet very soon.
Now that's slim!

The Goodbye Girls

After a very successful run, ABC's Desperate Housewives drew to a close appropriately enough on Mother's Day, May 13th and Sunday nights just won't seem the same without them.

While Susan, Gabrielle, Bree and Lynette were the main characters throughout the series, the men of Wisteria Lane also had a lot of muscle on the show. And what muscle it was. It was a cul-de-sac where babes and beefcakes called home, throughout the most sordid of affairs -from murders to adultery, cancer to blackmail and all things in between (and a few that has us scratching our heads in disbelief.)

Here's to the remarkable cast and creators of Desperate Housewives. Others may try to take its place but there will never be a show quite like the adventures we shared on Wisteria Lane for the past 8 years.

"Eye"- Carumba!

I've been feeling blue the past week or so. Things that usually bring me joy have not even made me smile, but this crazy photo pretty much defied me not to laugh.

Taken while looking into one of those amusement mirrors, we find our pal Amy Ballet, really keeping her eye on things. Another funny facebook find and one I warned Amy I'd be stealing for Scribbles.

I had to do it Amy, it was for strictly therapeutic reasons and you made me laugh, no easy task these days.

Kim Papple hammed it up for Scribbles camera when we presented her with her winnings from our "Count the Cash" contest. Kim's prize consisted partially of Canadian Tire money and $11.37 in "real" cash.

Kim told us she was going to put the $11.37 towards funds raised when she participates in the Rankin Cancer Run later this month. We were impressed by her great idea and brought the cash portion of her prize to $20, so she'll have even more to put towards the cause.

Congratulations again Kim. It was great that you finally won a Scribbles contest. We also want to thank Nancy Erskine for being such a gracious runner-up and telling us how much fun the contest was.

We have a new contest coming soon and if you liked the Beverley Hillbillies TV show, you'll love this one...stay tuned.

Meet Reese

Shelly Stewart has a new guide companion and we finally have a picture of her new pal. In her own words Shelly tells us "My little labrador girl's name is Reese. She is 52 pounds ...itty bitty, but she is one tough alpha bitch. Think of Daisy Duke holding a shotgun looking all sexy but saying' move and I''ll shoot your nuts off'."

That's quite the vivid description Shelly. I can't wait to meet her and hopefully she will leave my family jewels alone...LOL!
Puppy Love

Michael Poirier and David Bowman won't wed until this Fall, but already their big happy family has gotten even bigger. Their labs Alexis and Cassidy became the parents of eight precious puppies on May 1st. Two boys and seven girls, three chocolate brown and the rest are black.

Congratulations to the proud "grandparents" Michael and David. I'll be sure to keep snooping on your facebook page for more pix to share with Scribbles pals. With that many cute pups under one roof, I'm sure there'll be lots of memorable moments to capture.

Happy 3rd Anniversary to
Sarah Essmail and Dustin Little
Full Bloom....At Last!

Dana Quinn Slaunwhite proudly showed off his clematis plant on facebook recently. Why was he so excited? Although he planted the clematis four years ago, this is the first time it has flowered.

Your patience and green thumb really paid off Dana, your clematis looks beautiful!

The sun shines brightly
But not for me
For inside my soul
  Clouds are all I see
Where I am now
  Isn't where I thought I'd be
Fear and uncertainty
Are haunting me

Things happen for a reason
I've always said
Why look to the future
With despair and dread
Cry for a while
Then lift up your head
Your future's a journey
In a book that's unread

The pages are blank
So fill them with glee
Make the next chapter
What you want to see
For where you are now
Is where you're to be
Push away the sorrow
And set yourself free

Pat's "Pur-dee" Picture

Our friend Pat Fenerty recently updated her facebook cover photo with this great pix taken a few years ago at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. As Pat said when I asked if we could post it on Scribbles, it sure is "pur-dee".

I've never seen anything quite like this before...and here all I thought there was to see in Vegas were slot machines and Elvis impersonators (what can I say, I don't get out much...LOL)

Dinosaurus   [G]

Slipping along an ill-defined track between seriousness, subtle farce, and all-out slapstick, this sci-fi comedy-drama by director Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr. (The Blob, 1958) would be entertaining enough for the moppet set and highly amusing in many spots for adults as well.

What sets the ball rolling is that a tyrannosaurus rex, a brontosaurus, and a neolithic man are brought back to life from their prehistoric world. As desperate leaders of the modern world try their best to kill off the carnivorous tyrannosaurus rex, the caveman is receiving high-voltage culture shock from the "civilization" he encounters all around him.

One sequence has him coming face to face with a woman in full make-up -- and both go screaming off in terror. Gregg Martell is the confused Neanderthal, Julio (Alan Roberts) is a boy who tries to make friends with the brontosaurus, and Mike Hacker (Fred Engelberg) is the requisite villain.
Award Winner!

Congratulations to our Milton, ON pal Kitsa Statti's son Matteo. He recently received the Principal's Award at his school and his mommy was so proud.

Kitsa, your son is a real sweet kid and sure does have his mother's looks. I cannot believe that the last time I saw you, you were just a kid yourself (photo inset). Time sure does fly, eh?
Party Central

Well we hope everyone's wearing their stretch pants, because with all the birthday cakes going around, we're all going to need them. May kicks off with more Scribbles pals celebrating their birthdays, including: Christine Mantej (May 1), Amy Ballett (May 1) Jay Wanamaker and Heather MacNeil (May 2) Amanda Buck (May 3) and Francesca Mackie (May 10).

And the parties don't stop there, later in the month candles will be burning brightly for Pam Hopkins (celebrating a landmark birthday on May 15) Kevin MacNeil (May 20), Winnipeg pal Ginny Eckert (May 26) and Jen Hughes (May 29 -another one of those ending in an "0" or is that "OH-OHH"?)

Gee that's a lot of cake and candles gang. Does anyone every substitute cake with a birthday salad?? LOL, no way, who the heck wants to do that?

Renee's Art is Off the Wall

When I first met Renee Giguiere she worked for a popular printing firm in St Catharines and helped design catalogues for the publishing company I was employed with at the time. Since then, Renee and her family moved to Haliburton, ON and I went on to various other jobs. Thanks to good old Scribbles, however, we still get lots of opportunities to admire each others artistic abilities.

Recently Renee sent a series of photos along with a request asking me to assess her work and let her know if I found it a bit cheesy. As always, I was thrilled to hear from her and wasted no time letting her know that not only did I love her work, but that I also was dying to share it with our Scribbles pals.

Since Renee included text with her photos, I've decided to feature them in her exact words...

Newest Painting Project by Renee Giguire

Just sharing my latest painting project. I know I've 'threatened' to do something like this for awhile... yay...finally did. Thankfully I have [my husband] Norm here to push me and set up scaffolding so I have no choice. ha ha.

You can be honest now....does it look cheesy?

I hate heights but Norm set up a good contraption for me to use fairly safely. Hee hee.....

Working away....had to watch my head. Only knocked myself once.  LOL

 Touching up a few spots...

Done....finito.  See the stars too?  I found them in my closet from another project I never did.

Now I'm thinking....maybe I can find some round frames to put family portraits in and hang in the tree.....our family tree.Norm isn't convinced. He would rather I paint the stars in glow in the dark paint. LOL

I love it Renee (the Family Tree idea is perfect too, not so sure about the glow in the dark stars though -sorry Norm.)

 READERS COMMENTS:

"Hey ole pal....Just wanted to thank you for the Scribbles Exclusive. You made me blush with all your praise. Was a nice birthday present to me! LOL (my bday today).

Norm says I'll never get my head back through the doorway now though. LOL  Thanks Kenny.....sending you big hugz!!!"   -Renee Giguiere
[KEN REPLIES: WOW! Another Scribbles pal celebrating a birthday. I'm losing count of them all. I am certainly glad your exclusive feature on Scribbles made you smile and was a pleasant surprise for your birthday. You deserve all that praise "ole pal" because you are simply amazing. There, now try and fit your head through that "ole" doorway...LOL]

Strike Three...

Life has a way of throwing us curve balls when we least expect them. With just over 4 months of the new year under our belt, I find myself in a very different place than where I was when Dick Clark gave what would be his very last countdown and we ushered in 2012.

When January 1st rolled around, I was sharing my home with my partner Rob, had a mountain of debt haunting me and was happily employed. Today, Rob lives elsewhere -although we are still very much together- I've sought relief from my creditors and just a few days ago was let go from my position at Talk Wireless.

Holy Life Changers Batman, what's up with all that?

My job demise was a result of a restructuring within the company and although I was initially shocked by how sudden it came to be, I was treated fairly and reassured that this was not based on my performance. As they say "it is was it is" and I will miss my colleagues at Talk Wireless (although my most recent position found me working alone most of the time, with only my plush toy Telus owl and the occasional client to talk to, so in some ways I had already fallen out of the loop with my cohorts.)

Despite that, there were many good times throughout my 3 1/2 year stay and I have made many new friends, not to mention acquired yet another pseudonym, known lovingly as "Princess" by many at the company.

Here's a video salute to the management and staff of Talk Wireless. Let's keep in touch and I hope you continue to enjoy Scribbles for many years to come.

ABOUT THIS VIDEO: The photos in this clip came from my files, Talk Wireless e-Newsletters and facebook. There are a few new faces, that I didn't have pix of, missing from the "gang". Music: "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder (Hey Clint..that's one of the songs on the CD that I made for you that I bet you still haven't listened to yet...LOL!)  I smile everytime I view this clip and get a bit sad too, knowing that "going forward" I won't be a part of the adventure.

Sick Day Sidekick

I've been feeling under the weather the past few days, suffering from a nasty flu bug. I hate being ill and stuck indoors, but I am grateful that my furry friend J.R. stays by my side. I lay on the sofa, J.R. lays there with me. I'm tucked in bed, J.R. squeezes in and shares my pillow.

Being sick is never fun, but having my little buddy by my side makes it a bit more bearable.
