SCRIBBLES VIDEO - Graham Turns 16

It seems like it wasn't all that long ago that my "little" nephew Graham would be all excited to have a sleepover at my place or go for a drive with Timmi & I in "Uncle Ken's green car". The car went bye bye and so did Timmi and although Graham is very much still around, long gone is that wee kid who I spent lots of time with.

But then, that's the way it goes. Life goes on, kids grow up and things change. I miss our get togethers but I am so appreciative that we had them. Those were very special days.

Now Graham is 16 and although having family come over to celebrate that may not be what a 16 year old thinks is very cool, we did it anyhow. Here's a brief look at that event.

NEW SCRIBBLES VIDEO - Our Annual Costume Contest is Back!

W
e LOVE Halloween and we're happy to present the return of Scribbles Annual Costume Contest. Last year, because the pandemic had everything on hold and there would be less of us dressing up for Halloween, we instead went with a "Classic Costumes" theme, where we selected top costumes from past years and asked you to pick the one you liked most. It was great to see some of those old costumes again and the contest was fun,

But this year, we're back to business. It's that time of year again my friends.... be it a costume you wear this year or a pix from a past Halloween, send us your photos to be entered in our contest.

Here's Ken with his alter egos Kyde, Officer Leavoy and Mr Sock, as they tell us all about this year's contest.

The winner of this year's Scribbles Costume Contest will receive $10 (e-transfer, cheque or gift card), a Scribbles keychain and a personalized fridge magnet to commemorate their win.

SCRIBBLES VIDEO - Halloween in My Neighbourhood 2020

This recently found video was taken last year on Halloween night around my neighbourhood.

Come with me as I check out my neighbours cool Halloween decorations. See the clever ways they made sure social distancing was happening.

Get it in spirit for THIS Halloween.

ast year because of the pandemic, many Halloween activities were canceled.

Scribbles annual Costume Contest also took on a different format in 2020. We featured Classic Costumes from previous years and asked you to pick the one you liked most.

See those costumes and enjoy the silliness as Klyde and Officer Leavoy help Ken reveal the top costume and which Scribbles pal wins the prize in this encore presentation.

EDITORIAL - We're Back

Hello Friends,

It’s been just shy of two months since we last met here, so you can bet there’s a lot to get caught up on in this edition. But first I’d like to take moment to acknowledge a few things.

Let’s start with Scribbles itself. Labour Day was officially our 42nd anniversary. It’s hard to believe those little hand-drawn Sunny Digests would one day find us continuing to keep in touch on a grander scale over the internet. That’s a whole lotta Scribblin’ my friends. I appreciate that many of you have been along for the ride since our humble beginnings and thrilled that we continue to meet new friends who are discovering Scribbles for the very first time. That just never gets old and keeps me extremely motivated.

In celebration of our anniversary, we’re bringing back some popular features. This includes a revamped Scribbles Spotlight (replacing Scribbles SuperFan) which kicks off with our much deserving friend LeeAnne.

Also returning is Fortune Cookies. Much like horoscopes, Fortune Cookies were a staple of Scribbles Magazines and although we’ve had to change it a bit in order to include everyone, we hope you will find it very entertaining (as that’s what it’s intended to be. Don’t go quitting your day job or betting all your money on a long shot based upon what your Fortune Cookie tells you. LOL.)

Later this month, watch for photos and stories from Scribbles archives. With over 4 decades of pix and info, we’ll all be taking plenty of trips down memory lane.

Battle of the Best is also back and although it’s featured through Facebook & email and not on our actual website, the results of Series 2 will eventually make it to Scribbles in a future video.

Halloween is just around the corner and that means the return of Scribbles Annual Costume Contest later this month. Scary good fun!

Enough gibber gabber. Welcome back friends, now let’s get at it.

With Love,

Ken

What You've Been Up To...

it's FINALLY BACK!

Back when we were Scribbles Magazine, one of our most popular features was Fortune Cookies. These were similar to horoscopes and in each edition of Scribbles Magazine, we featured a personal message for each and every Scribbles friend.

We’re happy to bring Fortune Cookies back for a limited return engagement. Since there’s so many of you who enjoy Scribbles now, it is virtually impossible to feature a separate message to everyone the way we did before. Instead look for your fortune under the month you were born then find out how you can get your own personal Fortune Cookie.
