PASSAGES | Taking a Final Bow

JULIE TURNER OBITUARY

August 21, 1954 - October 22, 2022

We are saddened to share the loss of Julie Turner and comforted that she spent her last days surrounded by family. Julie was the daughter of Cecil Turner and Lilian (Carlisle) Turner. Mother to Amy and Sile, mother-in-law to Liz, and grandmother to Connor, Roen, Sam, Luke, Emily and Eli. Julie will be dearly missed by her partner Fred, her sisters, brothers and in-laws, David and Liz, Anne, Kathy, Chris and Joelle, as well as her nieces and nephews, friends and extended family.

Julie acted in and directed community theatre productions throughout Haldimand and Norfolk Counties for many years. She connected a wonderful group of friends over decades and always brought laughter to those around her.

With her daughters and extended family, Julie spent many summers having adventures, bonfires, and a few mishaps at family cottages in Sauble Beach and Long Point. Julie loved sunny weather, autumn colours, doing puzzles, and walking on the beach collecting beach glass.

She found much joy in entertaining her six grandchildren who did crafts at her kitchen table and science experiments in her living room.

We will remember her for her kindness and her sense of humour. In remembrance of Julie her daughters ask that, if you wish to and are able, you make a donation to your local theatre in her name. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

SCRIBBLES QUICK CLIP | My Dollartree Halloween Decor

I wanted to put a few Halloween things around the house I share with our friend Deanna. The front door is the entrance to her place, access to my second floor apartment is on the side. I saw some great decorations at Dollarama, Party City, Giant Tiger & Walmart. But I went with Dollartree because the items are $1.50 or less and I had two areas to decorate with very little $$$ to do it with. Deanna told me her grandkids like the decorations which means this was a successful mission.

Here's a quick look at my decorations plus a bonus clip taken at Spirit Halloween in St. Catharines.

Two Suspenseful Thrillers

We all remember The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents & Night Gallery, but there was another suspense filled series that Scribbles loves. Boris Karloff's Thriller featured some very memorable episodes. Here's two episodes we really enjoy, especially around Halloween.

THRILLER - THE HUNGRY GLASS

William Shatner and Russell Johnson shine in this episode featuring an eerie legend with deadly consequences.

THRILLER - THE STORM

This is my absolute favourite episode and I rewatch it often. Nancy Kelly is captivating as Janet Willsom, as she discovers all that goes bump in the night is not always caused by the storm.

It definitely lives up to the name of the series. "It is indeed, a Thriller" as Boris Karloff often said.

HALLOWEEN WALLPAPER

This cool Halloween scene could be your computer's wallpaper. It's actually larger than it appears here. If you click on it, you will see larger version. To use as Wallpaper: Save image to computer then select "Use as Wallpaper".

MOVIE | Night of the Living Dead

This classic B&W thriller from 1968 remains a fan favourite and one of the scariest movies ever. It's also a great flick for Halloween.

Sweet or Tart...You Decide

It's the ideal time of year to purchase apples, but which is the right one for your needs? Looking for something a bit tardy? Try a Granny Smith. Prefer a sweet apple? A Fuji or Gala.

This handy chart helps take the mystery out of buying the ideal apple.

SCRIBBLES VIDEO | Happy Campers Season Farewell

Mr. Sock & I had the opportunity to enjoy one more stay at N.E.T. Camp Resort in Pelham. For over 17 years my friends Doug & Heather have set up camp at N.E.T. and rain or shine, I always have a great time there.

This visit was the last time I will be there for a while as the campground closes around Thanksgiving. If you can view in full screen or watch on a TV, there's some great landscape shots that look even better BIGGER!

what's NEW with YOU

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone (Well, if you're in Canada that is)

Here's our new edition of what's NEW with YOU and as you will see, our Scribbles gang has been having lots of happy moments. Each is worth noting and worth a smile. And if the worst thing I did today was offer up more pic and stories all about you, well I can live with that.

I hope you have a good Thanksgiving. Battle of the Best - Oct 20.
