PASSAGES | We Remember Our Awesome Scribbles Friend Jenna

    SCRIBBLES EXCLUSIVE
Jenna's best friend Katie
posted some very moving words the day our friend passed away.
I asked her if I could feature portions of it on Scribbles and she gave me permission to do so.
I have edited out some of the personal parts.

Left to mourn are her mother, Diane; and step-father, Roger Bain; and brother and sister-in-Law, David and Lindsy Miller. Predeceased in heaven by her father, Robert Miller; her husband, Robert Harper; grandparents, LeRoy and Grace Skrydstrup, John and Evelyn Miller, Douglas and Ada Bain and numerous aunts and uncles. Survived by aunts and uncles Sharon (late Calvin) Glasser; Brian (Monika) Skrydstrup, Walter (Marg) Miller, John (Betty) Miller, Ivy (Dave) Smart, Dennis Bain, Cheryl Bain, Lawrence (Trisha) Bain, Joanne (Ken) Hale, loving cousins Shawn, Carol Ann, Adam (Amanda), Sarah S, David (Jen), Sarah I, Christopher (Rachel), Michael (Katrina), Alexandria (Jesse), Laura (Ulas), Victor, Andrew and Allyson. Jennifer went to various schools in St. Catharines and Ross MacDonald School for the Blind in Brantford. Her most favorite thing was talking on the phone, then music - whether listening to the oldies, playing the keyboard, dancing or singing karaoke watching DVDs of her old favorites and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Of course, anything blue or purple with sparkle and bling! Our world will not be the same but we know she is a better place where she can see again and sing her big heart out with all the angels gone before her. WHAT'S NEW WITH YOU |

Sadly summer has been hot, humid and smoke-filled these days,
but just prior to all this, our Scribbles friends were busy with achievements, celebrations and gatherings. Here's a bit of those events...

** WE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE POST BELOW TO APPEAR AT THE SAME SIZE AS THE REST OF THE POSTS.
IT IS SAVED AT SAME SIZE BUT REFUSES TO DISPLAY THAT WAY.
YOU CAN SEE IT IN LARGER FORMAT, HOWEVER, BY CLICKING ON IT (POSSIBLY TWICE)...

ENCORE RECIPE | Pineapple Delight by Joan Storie

She hasn't made this for some time, but back in the day when my family still lived all under the same roof, my mom used to make this sweet treat fairly regularly. We first featured this recipe in Scribbles Magazine 30 years ago. It was part of our pullout Summer Centrefold, featuring Summer Tips, Gardening info and Recipes.

The recipe lists items in ounces and inches, that's just how old it is....LOL! You can do the necessary conversions using your smartphone or computer.

Pineapple Delight

by Joan Storie

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

1/2 cup butter

1 cup icing sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 cup Cool Whip

20 ounce canned pineapple (well drained)

  INGREDIENTS:

Moisten one cup of graham cracker crumbs with butter and place mixture in bottom of an 8 inch pan.

Whip cream till it stands and peaks. Spread on top of pineapple. Sprinkle with remaining crumbs (not moistened)

PASSAGES |

Singer Bonnie Tyler has passed away. She was 75.

Tyler's biggest hit was 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' which regained popularity a few years ago when we witnessed a total eclipse.

The Welch singer's signature voice was also showcased in hits such as "I Need A Hero", "It's a Heartache" and "Making Love (Outta Nothing at All").

Rest in peace Bonnie and thank you for the epic music you gave us.
