Being Silly at Another Family Birthday Party

My family gathered again on March 13th to celebrate yet another birthday. This time around it was my sister Kim.

We held the party at my mom's and as I like to do, I created a game for everyone to play. It wasn't quite as elaborate as the card matching game we played at my mom's birthday party in February, but it was still fun. Each person (except me) took turns pulling a white pipe cleaner out of a tall plastic container. Some of the pipe cleaners had yellow painted on the bottom. The object of the game was to be the first to pull out two yellow tipped pipe cleaners. Sister Jane won this one and got a solar powered animated moving cactus man wearing a sombrero.

I also helped with dinner and decorated with some balloons mom had purchased.

Although we had a little boo boo cooking the lasagna, it was still very tasty. Since it was well received, I made the same salad that I prepared for mom's birthday.

Also like we did for mom, we had a McCain's cake. Funny thing, we discovered on Facebook, our pal Maria and her family also celebrated three birthdays that weekend and they had three of those McCain cakes too.

Everyone had a good time and as we see here, Kim got a bit silly when it was time to take photos. When you're the birthday girl, you can be silly all you want.

Scribbles BIG SHOT

Don't Go Breakin' My Heart

FROM MY FACEBOOK POST -  MAR. 23..

It’s a little bit funny, this feeling inside…

As you may recall last summer I won two tickets to see Elton John in Toronto this coming September.

Today I received an email from the radio station telling me that unfortunately Elton has cancelled this show.

I was sad, but also a bit confused. I knew Elton has cancelled his March shows because there were restrictions in place as to how many people could attend (which have since been lifted) but from what I had seen, September was still a go.

I checked Ticketmaster and the show is still listed and tickets are still available. If it were cancelled, why would Ticketmaster not show this?

So I emailed the radio station and asked if maybe they had mixed things up. I figured I was probably wrong but it was worth asking about.

A few minutes later the radio station replied. I WAS RIGHT! They had made a mistake. The September show is indeed still on (knock on wood) and I was asked to disregard the first email.

WHEW! That little scare worked better than Metamucil!

A Little Bundle of Furry Joy

Some people don't understand that sitting in your own house in peace,
eating snacks and minding your own business is priceless.

What's New With You...

If money and material things make you believe you are better than others,
You are the poorest person on earth.

COMICS |

The world continues to deal with a lot of bad "stuff " (and you all know the "stuff" we mean, we don't need to spell it out here.) Perhaps now more than ever, it's important to take a few minutes and enjoy some good laughs. Here's a section of funny comics, plus look in this edition for a section of St. Patrick's Day humour too.

SCRIBBLES ENCORE VIDEO | St. Patrick's Day Fun With Our Scribbles Friends

THIS BLAST FROM THE PAST HAS BECOME AN ANNUAL SCRIBBLES ST. PATRICK'S DAY FEATURE. IT'S OUR FRIENDS IN THE OTTAWA VALLEY ENJOYING ST. PATRICK'S TO THE MAX AND IT JUST NEVER GETS OLD.

Even if we actually aren't, we're all welcome to feel a wee bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day. One place where that really holds true is the town of Douglas, Ontario, located in the Ottawa Valley. The entire town goes all out for St. Patrick's celebrations and residents decorate their homes, much like we would do for Christmas or Halloween.

I had the pleasure of partying on St. Patrick's Day at the Douglas Hotel many moons ago. It was a fond memory that always brings a big grin to my face...these folks really know how to have a good time, even if some of their sing along tunes are a bit queer.  LOL!

A major part of the Douglas festivities, is their St. Patrick's Day parade. I have cousins who live in Douglas and nearby town Renfrew (where I was born.) They participate in the annual parade each year. Here's a short video of them enjoying 2017 celebration.

more fun with our green lovin' pals...

PETS | How Old is Your Pet?

This handy chart first appeared in Scribbles in 2015 and is just as informative as it was then.

When it comes to how old our pets are, I always thought one year for us equaled 7 years for our tail-wagging pals.

Not necessarily so according to this chart I saw at my vet's office recently. It does apply initially, but as your pet ages, it's size and weight also contribute to how old they really are.
