A Shocking & Hurtful Exit for Lisa LaFlamme

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”

– Walter Winchell

Chillin'

I'm going to the Ottawa Valley in a few days, with my mom. We will be repeating much of 2019's visit. For example, we will be staying in my cousins Cathy & Ernie's RV at Cedar Beach Camp Resort in Eganville.

We will also be getting together with some our many Scribbles friends & relatives in the Valley and I will be spending a night on a private island with my cousin Jeanne...and the only way to get there is by....wait for it....BOAT! My fear of water will be in full force I'm sure.

Ironically, mom and I won't be spending a lot of time actually IN our hometown Renfrew. Mom has a friend she wishes to visit there and we want to check out the amazing gift shop 'A Sense of Country' and of course it wouldn't be a trip to Renfrew if we didn't go to the infamous Swinging Bridge, but we will be in Eganville, White Lake and Douglas for most of our holiday.

There will be no new posts while we are away. Off Beat Cinema will return Fri. Aug. 26 and we will resume posts and videos in early Sept.

We're into the last few weeks of August, a last kick at the can when it comes to summer activities and festivals. Get out and enjoy yourself. Even sitting outside with a cold beverage and a good read can be enjoyable, if you can't get to events or aren't doing a vacation. Just go out and have fun.

I look forward to bringing you more videos, more Scribbles posts and of course more Mr. Sock, who I spend entirely too much time with...LOL!  September officially makes it 43 years that Scribbles has been around in one format or another. We'll talk about that more next month.

Happy Trails My Friends.

SCRIBBLES VIDEO | Celebrating a Birthday with Lady Jane

This year, we celebrated my sister Jane's birthday several days AFTER her actual birth day and now here's our video of the event, several days AFTER we had the party. But as the old saying goes....better late than never.

Enjoy!

MOVIES | Double Feature: Teenagers From Outer Space & Gammera

I'm going to the Ottawa Valley with my mom next week, meaning we won't have a new Off Beat Cinema movie next Friday. But never fear, we've got a DOUBLE FEATURE for you this week.

We start with Teenagers From Outer Space. A flying saucer arrives on Earth while searching for planets suitable to raise "Gargons", a lobster-like but air-breathing monster that is a reserve food supply on their home planet.

We follow that with destructive flying turtle Gammera: The Invincible, who is sure to stir up mayhem wherever he goes. Grab yourself some extra snacks, dim the lights, put the video on full screen mode and enjoy this double feature.

Extra Scary Movie: 'Night of the Living Dead'

Welcome back all you Cool Cats, we hope you enjoyed last week's debut of Off Beat Cinema. This week we have a true horror classic that's just as scary today as it was when it was first released in 1968. 'Night of the Living Dead' tells the tale of people coming back from the grave in search of human flesh. This zombie theme became very popular, spawning a ton of similar films.

We should warn you, this movie is scary and a bit gruesome in spots. It may not be suitable for younger or sensitive viewers. For the rest of you, grab your favourite snack, turn off the lights, and get ready for some spine tingling suspense in 'Night of the Living Dead'...

LAUGHS | An Extra Large Collection of Funnies

I've said it many times before, but it's worth repeating. Laughter truly is the best medicine. And Scribbles has the antidote. Here's an extra large section of comics. Go ahead. Laugh out loud! It's good for your health.

This is cute ...

A Green Thumb & Golden Memories

Yes. You have seen this before. In fact, if you're a hardcore Scribbles fan, you may have seen it twice already. We first featured this post about my grandpa two years ago and repeated it last summer. Poppy's garden was always so plentiful. They had a large backyard and the gardens took half of it.
