EDITORIAL - Hopeful Holidays

Welcome My Friends,

WOW! Time sure flies. Here we are only days away from ushering in a new year and biding ado to yet another year of challenges, confusion and major changes.

Things are a wee bit better than last year at this time, when it comes to life during this seemingly endless pandemic. Vaccines have helped keep Covid numbers a bit lower, allowing us to participate in non-essential activities once again, even though another damn variant threatens to reverse some of that progress.

Something I refuse to give up on is hope. Hope that we will continue to develop vaccines that will conquer Covid or at the very least keep it under control. Hope that those who allow misinformation to keep them from getting vaccinated, change that viewpoint. Hope that the world will come out of this pandemic in a better place than where we were when it began. Hope that love will defeat hatred and ignorance.

Putting all that gloom and doom aside, I offer my Christmas present to you... Scribbles Holiday Edition. Within this edition you will find photos and stories featuring our friends preparing for the holidays, a new video featuring Scribbles Christmas Greeting, two sections of holiday humour, our 40th Annual Find Frosty Contest, a new Scribbles Spotlight, everyone’s favourite pooch Joe Friday, award winning Scribbles pals and a massive section featuring what you’ve all been up to since we last met up here. That's over 100 photos featuring your adventures.

Here’s hoping your holidays are merry and your new year is both happy and healthy.

AT LAST! We Enjoyed a Live Concert featuring Danko Jones

Thanks to my friend Shelley who I enjoyed a much needed night out with on Dec. 8th.

Dinner at Kully’s was fantastic (my burger was one of the best I’ve ever had). Good thing I have a smartphone so I could view the menu with a QR code and read all the tasty choices with you.

Although I wasn’t familiar with Danko Jones, they put on a great show. The opening act The Anti-Queens were also good and really got the crowd primed for Danko.

Sorry I was a bit manic when we first arrived at The Warehouse Concert Hall. I was a bit overwhelmed trying to find a place to put our folding chairs the bar provided us, while maneuvering the roaring crowd, holding my drink and not wanting to lose “the blind chick” (as you lovingly say).

Once we had our spot, the concert was a real blast and when I got home I watched Danko Jones videos on You Tube (he’s got a tongue that even Gene Simmons would envy.)

Our first dinner out and concert since 2019… and it was so much fun. Loved it and love you lots.

Here's a Danko Jones Concert video...

Free2View Channel Offers a World of TV Viewing Options

Do you have a Roku Smart TV? There’s a new channel called Free2View you really should check out. When you launch it, there’s categories to select from.

Go to “Over the Air Exclusives” from there you see a list of US subchannels including Cozi TV, MeTV and many more. The two channels I just mentioned air tons of great classic TV series and are the most popular sub channels today.

If you return to the main menu of Free2View continue scrolling across and you will find MORE specialty channels

The option “General” provides even more channels that air classic TV. fetv is good as are many others.

Back at the main menu “Family TV & Movies” offers even more specialty channels.

Each selection in the main menu of Free2View features numerous channels, something for everyone.

Free2View features many US subchannels (also known as digital or over-the-air channels) that are NOT available in Canada on cable or over-the-air.

You will need to first download Free2View. To do that: From Roku main menu go to “Search” then type in Free2View. Scroll over to the right where you see Free2View at top of list. Download that channel. Then simply open the channel to see all the amazing channels you have to pick from.

Not sure when this Free2View Roku channel launched but it features a shitload of content and it’s FREE!!!!
