PASSAGES | Roxy Was Larger Than Life

S
adly, our St.Catharines Scribbles friend Roxanne Rinaldi passed away in early April. Adding to the sorrow is that her beloved husband Frank passed away only 3 years ago. Both fought brave battles with the F’n C word. It’s a bitter pill to swallow….times two.

I met Roxanne when I worked at Troll Book Clubs. We got along immediately and her laugh was infectious.

Roxy & our mutual coworkers and friends Terry & Becky were known as the Angel’s & I was Charlie, although we determined right away I was far more the Bosley type than Charlie.

I remember many times Roxy sharing with us at lunch break about a new restaurant her and Frank went to over the border, or the casino visits, or vacation plans. There was always something. Roxanne & Frank really lived life to the fullest. They worked hard and they played hard.

They didn’t put it off or wait till retirement to do stuff. Nope, not this dynamic duo. They enjoyed life in a way that was truly admirable.

My condolences to Robyn, Marco and Roxy’s family and friends.

Roxanne was a grand woman with a heart of gold and I will forever remember her that way. Rest in peace my "Angel".

obituary

ROXANNE RINALDI 1955 - 2023

Passed away peacefully at Hospice Niagara at the age of 68, with her family by her side. Loving wife and soulmate of Frank (predeceased 2020) for 45 years. Cherished and devoted mom to Robyn and Marco (Tracy). Predeceased by her parents Richard (Rosanne) Popiela and Dolores (Tony) Brzozowski. Much loved sister to Alicia (Ron) Marcella, Jimmy (Pauline) Popiela, and Sister-in-law to Jerry (Joan) Rinaldi. Roxanne will be lovingly remembered by her fur grandchildren, Peanut, Penny and Sam. She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Together with her husband, brother-in-law Jerry and sister-in-law Joan, she worked many years contributing to the success and growth of Rinaldi Homes. She had since retired to take care of her husband Frank and spent time with her children, family and friends. Family was always something she was so proud of and the many vacations, casino trips, rounds of golf and celebrations have always been her most treasured memories.

Roxanne was a strong woman and she will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and her vibrant personality. She was a true warrior that not only helped her husband fight off his health battles but also fought her own tough battle with cancer as long as she could. She will now be forever united with her loving husband and is suffering no more.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Niagara. They will be forever grateful for their kind and compassionate care during such a difficult time.
