scribbles video | 'Me, Myself & I'....Classic Costumes Results

In late October Scribbles offered up 20 costumes from past Halloweens and asked you to pick the one you like most. The costume with the most votes would earn the title of Favourite Classic Costume and we'd enter everyone who voted in a random draw, with one lucky friend winning our prize package.

That contest ended a few weeks ago and we could have simply tallied up the votes and reveal which costume and which friend were our winners. But where's the fun in that? No, this is Scribbles, where doing it the easy way, isn't our way of doing things.

Instead, we offer you the following video. It's part contest results, part silliness and 100% entertaining. Well.....at least that's what WE think it is. But we'll let you decide for yourself.

PASSAGES - Robin Had a Heart of Gold

KEN LEAVOY of SCRIBBLES SAYS...

I didn’t have the pleasure of getting to know Robin Derring the way so many others did, but I do recall every time I saw her at a function. She always gave me a warm, welcoming smile and made me feel good, like I mattered.

If I can feel that from a simple glance and a smile, I can only imagine the immense joy and love she shared with those who knew her.

My deepest condolences to her family, chosen family and friends.

SCRIBBLES VIDEO - Halloween in My Neighbourhood

Despite the pandemic, there was still plenty of Halloween fun in my neighbourhood this year. Here's a look at some of the cool, safe, socially distant ways my neighbours and other Scribbles pals enjoyed themselves.

    vIDEO - A Strange Bird

As I've repeated ad nauseam, I became somewhat of a novice bird watcher this spring & summer. The fun began with a seed bell purchased at Dollarama. The birds went crazy for it and soon I found myself Googling ways to make a DIY bird feeder. Add to that a store bought feeder given to me by my neighbours, and you get an array of colourful birds to watch on a daily basis.

I thought I knew the names of all the critters my backyard birdie bistro attracted, but the other day I saw one I hadn't seen in the feeder before. I was able to capture a few seconds of the feeding frenzy and here it is. Maybe someone in Scribbles land will be able to identify this strange bird.

The Bradys Bring Back Many Old Memories

It's been almost two months since CHCH TV began airing The Brady Bunch every weekday and we've been enjoying reliving every cheesy moment of it. When The Brady Bunch first hit the air, I was a big fan. And when it went into syndication, to live on forever, I was over the moon.

My favourite Brady kid was Jan. I thought Eve Plumb was real groovy. I had pin-ups of Plumb from teen life magazines on my bedroom walls (walls she shared with David Cassidy & Donny Osmond).

I remember having my Brady Bunch notebook. In it I had written out the names and descriptions of every single episode over 5 seasons. Kinda like a wikipedia page, only handwritten and on lined paper.

I had two Brady Bunch albums, where they went I don't know. But when I had them, I played them a little more often than I should probably admit. LOL!

One of the things I'm getting a kick out of, when tuning in each day to watch the Bradys, is how many times I know what the characters are going to say or do. Peter trying to act like Humphrey Bogart, and then says "pork chops & apple sauce...swell" with Bogie's mannerisms. The one where Marsha gets hit it the nose with a football and the infamous one where Peter's ball breaks "mom's favourite vase" which they repeat a few times with Bobby saying "She always says don't play ball in the house". The Brady's trip to the Grand Canyon, a three part adventure. I remember each and every one of these rare gems, and I'm so glad CHCH is airing The Brady Bunch.

    Ghosts of Halloweens Past

Every October It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown airs on TV. No matter how many times you've see it, Halloween just wouldn't seem the same without it (Spoiler alert: Linus will once again be disappointed. LOL)

The following posts first appeared on Scribbles during past Halloweens and have become our Great Pumpkin inspired traditions.

    Enjoy (again!)

vIDEO - Scribbles Invites You to Our Costume Party

    W
ith Halloween upon us, there's lots of confusion as to what we can and cannot do this year. Do we take the kids trick or treating, or keep them home and have a family house party instead? Can we have friends over for a social gathering, or should we make that gathering a virtual one through Zoom or Facetime? The pandemic has turned what is normally an exciting time to be creative and let your hair down into yet another messed up chapter of 2020.

Never fear, Scribbles is here. We're edited together your entries from previous year's costume contests to come up with a virtual costume party for your enjoyment. Take a trip back to 2014 and check out the cool guises you came up with that year. Then continue your trip as we present your costumes for 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. We also reveal which costume won first prize in each of those years.

Is it the same as getting dressed up and going to an actual costume party? Not even close. But it does provide a chance to give a  second look at the awesome costumes you shared with your fellow Scribbles friends over the years.
