Many people would look at this black 4 tier shoe rack at Walmart and think about how many pairs of shoes they could put on it. And then there’s me, in my Scribbles bubble, who looked at the shoe rack and immediately envisioned it as an ideal way to display my Mr. Socks. LOL.
It is pretty perfect though. For display purposes I have found putting a piece of pool noodle inside each Mr. Sock works well. The design of the shoe rack is ideal because I can push the pool noodles through the rails and it stays in place.
Here’s an interesting side note… I saw the shoe rack at the Walmart on Welland Ave for $13.98 and while that was a great price I didn’t immediately buy it.
First I checked two thrift stores and Giant Tiger to see if I could find something for even less money. I did not.
When I left Giant Tiger I told myself I should have bought the damn shoe rack Walmart had. Since I was now a bit closer to another Walmart location (Fourth Ave) I decided to go there to get the shoe rack. Got to Walmart, quickly located that same 4 tier shoe rack.
I looked at the price. It wasn’t $13.98 like it was at the other Walmart, it was $10.98. Cue the happy dance!!

Below is a brief snippet of Johnny Cash & June Carter’s song “Jackson” as sung by members of the We Walk the Line - a Tribute to Johnny Cash at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre, Friday April 21.
I was at the show with my friend Shelley Stewart. We started our get together with a subs from Subway and a great visit at Shelley’s, followed by the Johnny Cash Tribute Band.
The band covered 50 years of Johnny Cash songs with staples like “Ring of Fire”, “Jackson” and “I Walk the Line” bringing much applause from the crowd (a sold out event). I was impressed with newer Cash songs which included Johnny’s version of Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails.
The show wasn’t quite as grand as described in the Performing Arts Centre’s events listings magazine Centre Stage, but it was still a good show made all the better by my concert buddy Shelley.

Sadly, our St.Catharines Scribbles friend Roxanne Rinaldi passed away in early April. Adding to the sorrow is that her beloved husband Frank passed away only 3 years ago. Both fought brave battles with the F’n C word. It’s a bitter pill to swallow….times two.
I met Roxanne when I worked at Troll Book Clubs. We got along immediately and her laugh was infectious.
Roxy & our mutual coworkers and friends Terry & Becky were known as the Angel’s & I was Charlie, although we determined right away I was far more the Bosley type than Charlie.
I remember many times Roxy sharing with us at lunch break about a new restaurant her and Frank went to over the border, or the casino visits, or vacation plans. There was always something. Roxanne & Frank really lived life to the fullest. They worked hard and they played hard.
They didn’t put it off or wait till retirement to do stuff. Nope, not this dynamic duo. They enjoyed life in a way that was truly admirable.
My condolences to Robyn, Marco and Roxy’s family and friends.
Roxanne was a grand woman with a heart of gold and I will forever remember her that way. Rest in peace my "Angel".

obituary
ROXANNE RINALDI 1955 - 2023
Passed away peacefully at
Hospice Niagara at the age of 68, with her family by her side. Loving wife and
soulmate of Frank (predeceased 2020) for 45 years. Cherished and devoted mom to
Robyn and Marco (Tracy). Predeceased by her parents Richard (Rosanne) Popiela
and Dolores (Tony) Brzozowski. Much loved sister to Alicia (Ron) Marcella,
Jimmy (Pauline) Popiela, and Sister-in-law to Jerry (Joan) Rinaldi. Roxanne
will be lovingly remembered by her fur grandchildren, Peanut, Penny and Sam.
She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, family & friends.
Together with her husband,
brother-in-law Jerry and sister-in-law Joan, she worked many years contributing
to the success and growth of Rinaldi Homes. She had since retired to take care
of her husband Frank and spent time with her children, family and friends.
Family was always something she was so proud of and the many vacations, casino
trips, rounds of golf and celebrations have always been her most treasured
memories.
Roxanne was a strong woman
and she will always be remembered for her infectious laugh and her vibrant
personality. She was a true warrior that not only helped her husband fight off
his health battles but also fought her own tough battle with cancer as long as
she could. She will now be forever united with her loving husband and is
suffering no more.
The family would like to
thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Niagara. They will be forever grateful for
their kind and compassionate care during such a difficult time.

Someone told me they thought I must always be happy because I usually post happy stuff on my Facebook page.
Not true!
I have strong opinions and concerns about politics, inflation, healthcare, climate change, gun control, homophobia, racism and much more. I just choose not to post those feelings on my Facebook page.
It’s an extension of Scribbles and for sure THAT’S a happy place.
I like providing a pleasant escape from the harshness of the world.
I created this video around 8 years ago. It pre-dates characters Kyle and Officer Leavoy & the only socks on set were on my feet, not my hand. And if my antics aren't to your liking, well you have the classic song 'Stuck in the Middle With You' by Steeler's Wheel.
There's also footage of several Scribbles friends pouring a bucket of water over their heads. Many did it to raise money for the ALS Foundation. Others just did it for the silliness and fun of it all.
