Amazon Prime’s revival of the Toronto sketch comedy troupe’s five-season series from a quarter-century ago will be seen in more than 200 countries and territories

The Kids in the Hall are reuniting for an eight-episode season of new material on Amazon Prime.

Amazon Prime's first Canadian original series — if you want to call it "original," after the Toronto sketch comedy troupe's five seasons of their self-titled show on CBC and HBO from 1989 to 1995 — will be available to Amazon Prime members in more than 200 countries and territories. No release date has been specified.

Amazon's news release not only says that all five kids — Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson — will be back, but so will fan-favourite characters in this "continuation of the original show."

"We've been investing in Canada for several years and are excited to add to that momentum by making 'The Kids in the Hall' the first Canadian Amazon Original series," said James Farrell, Vice President of International Originals for Amazon Studios."Even after 30 years, 'The Kids in the Hall' has retained its brilliance and originality," said the show's former and returning executive producer, Lorne Michaels. "We are happy to be bringing back all of the original 'Kids' for the new series."

Since 1995 the troupe has reunited for several projects, including live tours, the TV miniseries "Death Comes to Town" and the theatrical movie "Brain Candy," but this represents their first return to exactly what they did to make them stars.

The Kids in the Hall formed as a stage troupe in 1984 and pushed the boundaries of comedy on CBC and HBO, doing sketches in drag and tackling topics such as religion, modern sexuality and suburban life. In a 2018 interview with The Canadian Press, several cast members said they were hoping to reunite for another project.

"To me it's a very similar time to when we were in our heyday — a very turbulent time, lots of social change, lots of political change, political correctness with a stranglehold on popular culture," said Thompson. "I think what people are waiting for is five white guys in their 50s to tell people what's what. Right, people?" he added jokingly.

An Anniversary to Remember

One of the happiest moments in life is when you find the courage to let go of what you can’t change

This Messy Sitcom is Truly Blessed

If you are a fan of Schitt’s Creek and you’re having anxiety because its come to an end, Bless This Mess may be the cure. The ABC sleeper hit sitcom is one of today’s funniest and most endearing series on the air, with a cast of characters you can’t help but fall in love with.

Bless This Mess follows the trials and tribulations of Mike & Rio Levine-Young (played by Dax Shepherd and series co-creator Lake Bell) a young couple who leave their home in the Big Apple for a new life on a farm in Bucksnort, Nevada. Mike inherited the farm from his great aunt, but it turns out the place is not quite as picturesque as promised. The farmhouse is falling apart, there’s no crops thanks to poor soil quality and there’s a squatter named Rudy (Ed Begly Jr.) living in the barn with his very vocal pet goat Theresa.

What makes this series work are the fresh storylines, hilarious writing and unique cast of characters. The residents of Bucksnort are zany & colourful and you can’t help but love each and every one of them.

Bless This Mess was originally created for Fox after the network purchased the pilot episode, but it ended up as a mid-season replacement series debuting on ABC in April 2019. Impressed by the ratings of the 6 episodes in season one, ABC ordered a full 19 episode second season for their 2019-2020 line-up. 

Surprisingly no major Canadian TV network has yet to purchase the broadcast rights to the series, making exposure to the hilarious sitcom outside of the US somewhat limited. You can purchase episodes from the iTunes Store and it can be found on sites that feature TV series and movies, even though they’re not legally supposed to (you know the ones we’re referring to.)

Bless This Mess airs Tuesdays at 8:30 pm on ABC

Aeitch's First Ever Video is Outta This World

He may be young but our pal Aeitch (pronounced "H") has just made an informative and entertaining video. Not only that...he uploaded it to You Tube so the entire world can see what he came up with.

Turning 8 years old next month, Aietch is currently into learning all about the solar system. He even has models of all the planets. Our young friend, who lives in St. Catharines with his mom Tammie, used his love of outer space to create his debut video all about the solar system.
