Past theme parties have included Family Feud (played in two teams just like the TV game show), Grandma's Grammy Awards (where each guest performed and awards were then handed out to the favourites), Hot Potato (where guests answered questions and passed around an actual potato, complete with a face, hoping not to be caught with it when the buzzer sounded), Rock n' Roll Oldies (we all dressed up in 50's-60's attire) and last year's silly Hot Dog Birthday Game (4 rounds of questions all having something to do with hot, dogs or birthdays.)
This year I took advantage of the fact mom's birthday is close to Valentine's Day with a "Be My Valentine Birthday Party". In addition to a lot of colourful decorations, I also had a game of sorts, which assured no one would leave empty handed. This was not the first time a party for mom had a Valentine's theme, but it is the last. I have officially retired that as a concept for future parties.
Below is a new Scribbles Video that shows you how I decorated for the big event (held on Feb. 16) along with pix of mom and the gang enjoying the day. And just wait till you see what I got mom for a gift this year. It's pretty awesome.
