Flutter, Flutter

H
ey boys & girls, today's word is Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC). What is that you ask? It is "a heart rhythm disorder corresponding to a premature contraction of one of the chambers of the heart. Often they cause no symptoms but may present with fluttering in the chest or a skipped beat. They typically have no long-term complications."

Well, I have that. I woke up around 3 am with terrible neck pain, tingling in left arm, sweaty, hot and a fluttering in my heart. As most of you know, I have chronic neck and back pain and it has been pretty nasty the last few days. I see a chiropractor on Monday. But the fluttering part was what scared me, so after a bit of "should I or shouldn't I?", I called 911.

The paramedics arrived quickly and got me in the ambulance, hooked me up to stuff and they could see the flutter thing I was describing on the heart monitor thing. I'd say "there's one" when I felt the flutter and they'd say "Yes, we see that", it was a fun game with them looking at the monitor and me telling them "there's one, there's one".

The hospital was not too busy (a rarity) and I soon found myself in a cubicle, being attended to by nurses. They did lots of blood tests, EKG's etc. The doctor determined I have PVC. When I told him who my family doctor is, he had great praise for him. "Dr. Oelofse is a very good doctor" he said. All the info will be sent to Dr. O., whom I see on Dec. 10.

I was released around 8 am. When I left I had to go through the emergency waiting room. Anyone who has been there knows how packed it can get. How many people do you think were in the waiting room? Would you believe it was TWO. I had NEVER seen that room so empty.

I am greatly relieved to know what I am dealing with and that it was not more serious. Still have the neck pain crap, which you'd think I would be used to considering I've been dealing with it for 45 fucking years. Looking forward to seeing the chiropractor on Monday.

I have much of the Best Cartoon Characters results video completed and hope to not make you wait too much longer.
