EVENT | Niagara Pride Week

Pride is bursting out all over the place and Niagara is no exception, as we prepare for an event-filled Pride Week, June 1-8.

The festivities begin on Saturday, June 1 with the Official Pride Kick-off event. The night will include performers, DJ and the crowning of this year's Miss & Mr Pride Niagara. Special guest Latrice Royale from Rupaul's Drag Race will be on hand to help celebrate. The party is at the Meridian Centre, 1 Icedogs Way in St. Catharines from 8 pm to 2 am. Monday June 3 rainbow Pride flag raising ceremonies will be held across Niagara, including St. Catharines, Welland, Niagara Falls, Grimsby and Fort Erie.

The 6th Annual Unity Awards will acknowledge groups, businesses and individuals that make a difference to Niagara's LGBTQ community. The gala will include a winery reception, silent auction, formal three course meal and entertainment by drag comedian Heroine. The Unity Awards are on Wednesday, June 5 at Amici's Banquet & Conference Centre, 2470 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold.  Tickets are $50 per person ($400 for a table of 8) and can be purchased by clicking here.

Thursday, June 6, Pride Niagara is thrilled to debut the first annual Pride Prom. This is an ALL AGES event hosted by reigning Miss Pride Cara Scene and Empress Claudia Silva. Included at the event will be special drag performances, the crowning of a Prom King & Queen plus DJ's and a professional photographer taking "prom themed" pix. Pride Prom will be held at The Warehouse, 11 Geneva St., St. Catharines. Tickets are $5 per person. Doors open at 8 pm.


Rain or shine (preferably the latter) the 8th Annual Pride in the Park event promises to be a day to remember. The festivities begin at noon Saturday, June 8 at Montebello Park and wrap up at 10:30 pm. That's over 10 hours for everyone to enjoy live entertainment, vendors, food and a cocktail area.
