Princesses, Pride and a Fond Farewell....
...This Weekend Had It All!

There truly was something for everyone to enjoy around Niagara the weekend of June 8-9.

Niagara Falls Scotiabank Convention Centre played host to Comic Con, where fans young and old got to meet some of their comic book and big screen heroes (provided they brought along plenty of cash to do it.)

Our Scribbles pals Tammie Holditch and Melisa Sider attended the annual convention in style, dressed as Princess Peach and Princess Daisy from Super Mario Brothers. The costumes were made by Melisa and were a big hit.

Westpark Secondary School will soon be closing its doors forever and alumni were given an opportunity to walk the halls of their beloved high school one last time during a Reunion/Farewell event on June 8.

My sisters Jane Storie and Kim Papple were amongst the many former students who reunited at the school and the after party downtown later in the day.

Meanwhile, Niagara's LGBT community and their supporters turned St Catharines Montebello Park into a rainbow of colours at the 2nd Annual Pride in the Park. This event just keeps on getting bigger and better each year, with more corporate sponsorship, businesses and organizations getting on board.

Live bands, a tribute to Grease drag show and celebrity DJ's were amongst the big attractions that drew in a record crowd.

The only noticeable absence was food!  There was not a vendor to be found and someone with a big BBQ, some hot dogs and burgers could have made a killing on this day.

Other events also taking place this weekend were the Dunnville Mudcat Festival and Scene Music Festival in dowtown St Catharines on June 9.

Here's a video of the events of that crazy weekend....
