Here's the Story of a Lovely Lady....

To kick off Scribbles new features and changes, we've included one of TV's most famous families...The Brady Bunch.

Young or not-so-young, are there any of our readers who don't know who the Bradys are and their famous TV show theme song?  LOL...are you singing it now?

In case you've been stranded on a deserted island for the past 44 years we'll fill you in.

The Brady Bunch ran on ABC from Sept. 26, 1969 until March 8, 1974 and has been seen in syndication ever since. It was the story of a lovely lady by the name of Carol, who was bringing up three very lovely girls,  Marcia, Jan and Cindy (the youngest one...in curls) who met a man named Brady (Mike Brady to be precise). He was busy with three boys of his own, Greg, Peter and Bobby.

Well one day the lady met that fellow and they knew that it was much more than a hunch. That this group must somehow form a family, that's way they all became the Brady Bunch.  LOL!

After the sitcom went off the air, the Brady family would return again and again....and AGAIN!

There was an animated version of the show called the Brady Kids which aired on Saturday mornings. The adult Brady's were not featured and the kids "home" was a treehouse.  All the original Brady kids provided the voices for the characters, except the final 5 episodes in which Christopher Knight (Peter), Maureen McCormick (Marcia) and Barry Williams (Greg) were replaced due to contract disputes.

In 1977 The Brady Bunch Variety Hour debuted, reuniting the entire cast with the exception of Eve Plumb (Jan).

In 1981, a new version of the show revolving around the now adult Brady kids and their new families debuted on NBC. It was known as the Brady Brides and included the entire original cast.

And who could forget the TV movie A Very Brady Christmas (Susan Olsen who played Cindy opted out of this one.) It aired on CBS in 1988 and was such a hit they developed a one hour "dramedy" series called The Bradys (it didn't last long.)

With all its reincarnations, the Brady Bunch had the unique distinction of having been featured on all of TV's "Big Three" networks (ABC, NBC, CBS).

A big screen version of the Brady Bunch brought new interest to the family and featured a whole new cast assuming the roles of the Brady's and their infamous housekeeper Alice.

And just when you thought you'd heard the last from the Bradys comes word that CBS is working with Vince Vaughn for yet another reboot. The series will act as a sequel and the plot revolves around an adult Bobby Brady who has been divorced, but remarries to start a new family.

Not too shabby for a family whose original show didn't even have a toilet in its bathroom. Talk about much more than a hunch!!

Your Favourite Brady Moments...

I will admit I was as hooked on The Brady Bunch back-in-the-day as I am to the Simpsons these days. I watched them over and over and over and had their posters all over my bedroom  (for some reason Eve Plumb who played Jan was my favourite.)

There were a lot of memorable Brady Bunch moments. What's your favourite?

My favorite Brady moment was actually when Barry Williams (GREG BRADY) was starting in the musical Romance Romance at Stage West in Mississauga. My best friend worked as a stage hand so we would hang out with him and some of the crew after the shows. We took him to come dancing with us at O'Tooles, he took us to see the live version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show .... but the best night was New Years Eve when I was sitting at a table for two with his beautiful fiance for the show, then he came and pulled us both up on stage to do the countdown and sing Auld Lang Syne with the cast in front of 650 people. What a night :)
